The following items should be sorted and prepared as noted before being brought to the transfer station.
Glass (Rinse Clean)
Place in designated recycling bin:
- Bottles (any color)
- Jars (any color)
Does not include: ceramics, coffee cups, dishes, light bulbs, Pyrex, drinking glasses, or window glass
Tin & Aluminum Cans (Rinse Clean)
Place in designated recycling bin:
- Aluminum cans
- Pie plates
- Trays
- Tin cans and lids
- Clean aluminum foil
- Coffee, soup, vegetables, tuna, fruit, and pet food cans.
#2 Plastic: Bottles and Jugs (Rinse Clean)
Plastics with a embossed with a “#2” designation. Please remove caps and drain bottles and jugs. Flattening them is appreciated.
Place in designated recycling bins.
- Containers with a #2 code symbol on the bottom, such as:
- Milk
- Water
- Bleach
- Detergent
- Antifreeze containers.
Do not include: Oil bottles, plastic bags, butter tubs, cool whip tubs, pails, toys, or clear glass-like bottles you can see through. No caps.
Paper Goods
All paper goods are currently being collected in the same dedicated compactor bin. These include:
- Newspaper
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Telephone Books
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Brown Paper Bags
- Mixed Paper (junk mail, cereal boxes, letters, folders, white and colored paper, envelopes, calendars, and other paperboard boxes.
Do not include food-contaminated paper, foil, glitter paper, or paperboard products such as takeout containers
Unacceptable Items
The following items do not go in recycling bins:
- Plastic bags or film
- Stretch wrap
- Styrofoam
- Ceramics
- Window glass or mirrors
- Light bulbs or dishes
- Hard or brittle plastic (e.g., monitors, keyboards, or children’s toys)
